SV Celeste: Short Film
This is a short film I have been working on with a mysterious abandoned spaceship based on the story of the Mary Celeste.
I find that the best way to improve skills is to work on a mix of short and long projects. I have let this project cook in the background over a long period, whilst I use other projects to learn and improve some areas I am missing the skills in.
The first step was to build the scene, I made a modular pack of switches, screens, seats and more. Then I set up the animations and lighting. I then did a course on cinematic lighting and that helped to take it to the next level of cinematography. The next step is to design a few more rooms and then design an updated space suit and drone design. These will then be rigged and animated into the scene.

SPACE CAMERA DRONE CONCEPT DESIGN
Realistic Design of a drone for zero-g environments. It is controlled using compressed air thrusters from the gas canister mounted inside the top.
Designed using modular parts inspired by camera rigs, I focussed on creating practical mechanical parts and connectors.
HELMET DESIGN
The first step in designing new objects that are realistic and believable is to gather good references. Fusing different concepts is a good way of generating new ideas. For this helmet, my goal was to start by trying to model a real helmet and modify small parts of it to make changes to fit the setting. The result of this is a new object that is very close to the source but noticeably different.
This model is differentiated from the source primarily through the materials chosen.
